Social media isn’t simply a way of life for young people — for many it’s fundamental to the user’s identity. It has also been shown to be more addictive than cigarettes and alcohol.

Over three evenings we will help you to develop an understanding of the impact of social media on the emotional health of our teenagers aged 13-16 years (both positive and negative), gain a working knowledge of different platforms and explore some approaches to help them keep their online interactions safe and positive.

“The time you spend on some apps – they can be very addictive. Lose time to revise, can’t do my homework, can’t interact with family/friends and lose a lot of sleep at night time.” Young person.

No prior knowledge of social media is required. Participants must be available to attend all the sessions – this is FREE thanks to support from Public Health and NHS Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group.

Sessions take place 6.30pm – 8.30pm on September 25th, October 2nd and 16th.
